Our story

Under a sheltering tree, a metal box became Renaissance Coffee Box—cozy, clever, and unmistakably La Ventana. Serving specialty coffee since December 2023, it’s the nook that turns a quick stop into a lingering hang. Built around the tree, not over it, the café naturally gathers people under the shade, and every other Sunday it flips into an Après Kite pop-up with house-made plant milks, inventive non-alcoholic elixirs, and coffee dialed in with care. Expect meticulous drinks, a warm welcome, and a community vibe brewed with purpose.

The beginning

A passion for coffee led us to an unconventional canvas. We saw possibility where others saw rust.

Why a box?

This shape provides a clear space with no internal obstructions. The structure allows us to reimagine the layout and move things around. We value the freedom to adjust our environment constantly.

Frequently asked questions

We're here to help. Find answers to what you need to know.

What else do we make / do / create / envision?

Our space is the result of being resourceful, hands-on, and deeply connected to design. Everything you see has been dialed in and customized specifically for this shop—because design truly lives in our blood. Beyond coffee, we love reimagining materials like steel, rock, and glass. We’ve already designed and manufactured custom elements such as mirrors, and we’re happy to consult and collaborate on unique pieces or concepts for your own space. Bring us your ideas, and together we’ll turn them into something tangible and beautiful. We also offer custom coffee roasting, tailored to your taste, concept, or brand, as well as custom drink and pastry menus that align with your vision. In addition, we create small-batch ferments, including our kombucha brand 11:11, crafted with intention, balance, and a touch of magick.

Do we carry organic coffee?

We work with coffee from small-scale farmers, mostly from the high mountain regions of southern Mexico. While not all of our coffees carry an official organic certification, we are very intentional about who we source from. Many small producers follow clean, responsible farming practices but can’t always afford the high cost of certification. What makes our coffee special is this close relationship: small batches, carefully harvested, thoughtfully processed, and roasted with precision and respect for the land and the people behind each bean.

Where are we located?

We are seasonally located in the south of the Baja California peninsula, right in the heart of the kitesurfing towns of La Ventana & El Sargento. Our season runs from October through June each year.
